activate your firewall
and keep the bad guys out
This morning when meditating on the direction my blog should be going during this very serious time in world history I was reminded of a quote; it goes something like this: “To chase the darkness out, just let in the Light.” Now that is a really good quote, it’s suggesting that Jesus is enough to overcome all of life’s problems. As I was mulling over that thought, all of a sudden, in the right-hand corner of my computer screen up popped an AVG advertisement saying: “Activate your firewall and keep the bad guys out”. Wow, I thought, isn’t the Lord funny! Now that’s a good way to keep them out once the Light has evicted them.
is jesus enough?
part one
Now you might ask; is it really that simple, is Jesus all you need? Well, I happen to think it is, that is if you are first willing to give Him ALL your life. Now humans are naturally pretty attached to the things of this world. We are earthbound, and our human tendency is to put quite a few limitations on what we want to do, or are willing to do, or even feel we can do. We set boundaries, saying‚ “I’ll do this, but not that; I’ll give up this, but not that.” But what if you’re facing a life threatening situation or if something really big is happening in your life?
Have you ever found yourself saying, “Oh God if you get me out of or through this one, I’ll do anything for you!” Right then at that crucial point we enter that realm where other things don’t matter so much, where we show more trust in Him than we have in a long long time, or perhaps ever did before. It is at that point where your spirit is motivated and where your spiritual life blossoms as you realize that Jesus has to be enough. It was very difficult reaching that point, but for that moment you did experience something supernatural. It may not last long; as your human proclivity to forget your promises kicks in. The routines of life once again overshadow the experience; the “high” has passed and you become the carnal man again. You may look back at that experience, just like we are doing now, and wonder about that seeming split personality of yours.
carnal ways
Well, the following explanation given in prophecy may help you understand this inconsistency.
“You are primarily spiritual beings. Right now your spirits are housed in physical bodies and carnal ways. By “carnal ways” I mean that you have an inclination to operate in ways that please your physical existence. For example, if you are hungry and somebody places a nice piece of pie in front of you, even if there are several others around you who are also hungry, the natural inborn tendency of the flesh–your carnal way–is to take that pie for yourself and to eat it. That’s the inborn reaction of the flesh.” (Jesus)
However when Jesus allows difficulties, breakings and hard times into your life, He says; “it is then that you are able to achieve this special union with Me. This is the fruit I desire to bring about through the purges that I bring into each one of your lives. If you find that you are often not in this state of “Jesus is enough,” then the answer is that you haven’t yielded to the smaller purges or breakings that I continually try to bring into your life so that you can bear this special fruit.”
isaiah 61:3
“That is the answer, plain and simple. Only through sacrifice, yielding, breaking, forsaking‚ and giving up your own will and plans can My plan of perfect joy, perfect dependence on Me, perfect love for Me, and perfect desire to do My will be perfected. This is the beauty for ashes (Isa.61:3) ‚ and without something going through the fire, there is no other way.”
