Water Baptism

Is there power in the water?

My Spirit moves and expresses itself in a myriad of ways, both physical and spiritual. Just as you shared in your letter to Stephen, “I feel as though it (water baptism) might be an important way to express our innermost repentance and commitment,” My love expresses itself through people in ways that are personally important to each individual. You remember the consecration ceremonies My Family performed before the days of Reboot; these were enacted in a physical way in order for those doing them to have a “frame of reference” as time moved along. Of course both you and I know that the physical act was not what I was looking for; it was the spiritual commitment, and that commitment is still in the hearts of those disciples today. Even if many don’t remember it or choose to forget, I don’t forget.

The physical action is remembered long after the spiritual commitment is forgotten, yet I use that “play act”, that “dance” if you will, to remind My disciples of that commitment of long ago.

So it is with many of the physical “enactments” from the Bible. Communion is another. You don’t actually need to eat bread and drink wine to remind yourself of My sacrifice. It helps though doesn’t it? But it is not “actually” spiritually necessary in order to be grateful of what I did for you that day so long ago.

Water baptism is of the same nature, a physical display of a deep spiritual commitment. In Romans 10: 9,10  it says, to be saved one should : Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart, nothing about water. Although water can symbolize that cleansing of heart, body and soul,  again it is not spiritually necessary for salvation. So once you are saved, what is the next thing you need to do besides feeding deeply on My Word? To witness, again nothing to do with water; Acts 1:8…and ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost shall come upon you and you shall be witnesses….

All I ask is that you be not as the scribes and Pharisees that made the outside of the platter all squeaky clean but the inside was full of sin and corruption. If your motives come from a pure heart My sweet, then love Me any way you wish, I love to be loved by you in many and varied ways.
