I Thought, Oh, He’s Done It! He’s Done It! Jesus Has Healed Me!
Transcript of Podcast “Through the Shadow of Death” (Audio)
Okay. Thank You, Jesus. It’s the 16th of October, and I just have to testify. I just had to get up and come to class because Jesus did an absolute, total miracle. It wasn’t today, but on the first night of my sickness, the night when everything collapsed.
We’ve had three people in this home who I believe walked right up to death’s door, and Jesus saved them.
The first one was Grace, who is no longer with us here. She went back to Liberia. But she was a walking dead woman. At one point, while she was still working here, we didn’t even know how sick she was. Her blood pressure was 200 over 100 and something, and then there was her blood count which was shockingly low.
We were treating her for two years, and she just kept working in the home. Her blood count rarely reached normal. At one point, the hospital gave her a transfusion, and it went up for a little while, but it never reached normal before dropping back down again. Her blood pressure eventually became more normal, but, as I said in the beginning, she was a walking dead woman. And the Lord just kept her going for two years, maybe more. We don’t know how long she’d been sick. That’s one of the testimonies.
The second one was Lisa. She had a TIA, (transient ischemic attack, sometimes called a mini-stroke) and the Lord just kept her through it. He just kept her going. She kept on working with Talia, and you know what a toddler is like—they keep going all the time! I was tired just watching her. But the Lord just kept Lisa going, and He is still keeping her going.
And then there’s me.
So I believe we have a healing ministry. We know that Jesus heals. We know that we lay hands on the sick, and they will be healed.
What did I have? Fluid on the lungs. I had a kidney infection with kidney stones. I had edema. I had typhoid—all at one time. My body just went.
I woke up on—what night was it? Sunday night. Last Sunday night. It’s Friday today.
I was feeling this serious, jabbing pain. It was really severe. I haven’t had any pains like that since I had that lower back problem, where the pain would just shoot up your backbone and shoot into your brain and just cripple you.
I had to get up, so I walked toward the door, which was about two or three meters away. I couldn’t make it to the door. I leaned against the wall. I couldn’t catch my breath. Every breath was just a small breath, not a full breath. The pain was unbelievable. I wasn’t getting my breath.
Finally, the pain eased a little, and I went out the door. We have a twin-tub washing machine outside the door, and I made it that far. That’s where I stood. I leaned against that machine. That thing was my crutch!
From 11 p.m. until 1:30 in the morning, I stood there fighting in prayer, calling on the Keys. All the people in the home were around me. They were laying hands on me, praying for me, and we were claiming the Keys.
At about 11:30, Jesus whispered in my ear. He said, “I’m going to heal you at one o’clock.”
I thought, What time is it? It was 11:30. I thought, Oh, my God! I can’t make it to one o’clock! This was unbelievable.
They were all there. They can testify, my people here. It was unbelievable, wasn’t it?
But He had said one o’clock. I thought, I can’t do this! We just prayed, and we claimed His promises. Patience—we have to make it through this barrier.
By the grace of God, one o’clock came, and everything started easing. The pain was still there, but my breathing came under control. You know those little, short breaths that pregnant women take when they’re in transition? It was just like that, but I had to breathe through my nose. I couldn’t breathe through my mouth because when I did, the pain was excruciating. Through my nose, I wasn’t getting much air, but everything calmed down.
It took quite a while to get back to bed, but I went back to sleep.
But He didn’t heal me the way I thought He was going to heal me, with that immediate I’m healed! feeling, the way I feel now. That wasn’t His plan.
He healed me at that time. I was healed; I know it. But I had a kidney infection, water on the lungs, edema, and typhoid. He wasn’t going to heal all of that just like that, because that wasn’t his plan this time.
This is how He worked.
We got in touch with our daughter’s husband, Emmanuel. He’s not a fully qualified doctor yet. He worked as a physician assistant (PA) for four years, and then he went back to medical school. He’s now studying to become a doctor.
We told him what was going on, and he started telling us what we should do. He sent one of his friends from the hospital to put a cannula into my vein. His friend did that and showed everyone here how to administer the drugs before he left. But then he rang Emmanuel and said, “You need to get this man into emergency.”
The man who came worked in emergency, and as soon as he saw me, he realized something was seriously wrong. He said, “You need to get this man into emergency.”
But I’m very stubborn about this. I will not go to hospitals. I will die here before I go to a hospital. I know Jesus is going to do it, and He’d already told me He’s going to do it at one o’clock.
So Emmanuel put his reputation on the line, and we’re very thankful for that.
But that’s that part of the story.
Everybody here knows how I struggled from Monday onward. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I was still struggling. Emmanuel rang every day to check on us, of course. Lisa and Maria were giving me drugs day and night. It was a whole course of treatment, with the IV medication administered every eight or twelve hours. It went on all night and all day. Amazing!
The painkillers we had here weren’t really strong painkillers. They were more like a hyped-up version of Brufen. They didn’t take the pain away completely. They took away the sharper, more intense pain, but that deeper pain was still there all the time.
So we fought on. We kept praying and kept praising. This is all about praise, you know. Jesus is trying to teach me how to praise through thick and thin, through good times and bad times.
So we kept praying and praising.
On Monday and Tuesday, I couldn’t walk one meter without having to sit down. I had to take a chair with me. That’s how serious it was.
On Wednesday, there was an improvement. I was able to walk by myself without help, slowly, but I made it the length of the balcony. The balcony is about 20 meters long.
Then last night—I don’t know what time it was—I started feeling these really sharp pains right in that spot. I thought, Uh-oh, what’s this? But they were different kind of pain.
So I got up in bed, and all the pain was gone.
I took my first real breath since it all started. I was able to take a full breath. Before that, I couldn’t take a breath any deeper than a shallow one without the pain really punching in.
I thought, Oh, He’s done it! He’s done it! Jesus has healed me!
Jesus kept His one o’clock promise to me. The healing was accomplished then, but this was the way He had chosen to bring full and complete healing. I accept that, but deep in my heart I know that it was His promise on that first night that broke the grip the demon Set (PDF) had on my body.
You can say it was the medicines if you want. I don’t care what you do. But I’m telling you, medicines don’t work unless Jesus puts His finger on them and says, “It will be done this way.”
He brought the right man at the right time. Our doctor was in university six hours away, but he set everything up. We didn’t have to leave the house.
The best care is in your home, of course. As soon as you put yourself in a hospital, you’ve given away your majesty of choice. They take over, and they tell you what you will do and what you won’t do. So it really is a matter of faith.
So that’s my testimony. I got up this morning and had some Word time. Jesus said, “You’ve got to testify now. Now it’s time to testify. Have a class and tell everybody what happened. And I want you to jog up there. I want you to jog along the balcony in the morning.”
And that’s what I did!
I jogged along the balcony to where Lisa was looking after Talia. I opened the door, and she looked at me like, What the hell are you doing?
I said, “I’m giving class today.”
And she said, “What?”
I said, “Yes! You can’t stop me. I’m going to give class!”
I jogged past Josh. He was the first one who came out of his room that early morning. He said, “Oh” He didn’t realize what was happening at first. I jogged past him and said, “Good morning!” Then, after a little bit, he realized what I’d just done. I’d jogged right past him!
So anyway, thank You, Jesus! There it is. Death’s door—and it’s a miracle. It’s absolutely a miracle!
So I got up for Word time. The Word I’ve got today, this PFTCOD2, has nothing to do with healing, but it’s about obedience, about really separating ourselves. It’s called “Come Out from Among Them. (PDF)”
Before I start, I want to tell you something. I sat down at my computer this morning because I had to do something on the blog. I opened my desktop, and I tell you what—artists, huh? They’re inspired! They can have a connection with Jesus.
Our artist here, David, did some artwork last night. When I opened my desktop, the first thing I saw was his new picture. I opened it up, and there was a picture of an athlete running out of a huge storm cloud and into the new dawn, she had the number 22 on her chest. There were Spirit Helpers around her, running with her. The dawn was coming up, and she was running (PDF) out of the storm toward the light.
I’m going to send it when I send this podcast. It just took my breath away. Have a look at it!
When I saw this image, it was around that time that Jesus said, “You’ve got to testify.”
So here we have it. Are you ready for the Word?
Yes, it’s the Word! I’m telling you, it is only the Word. (PDF)
All glory goes to Jesus—not to the medicines, not to the doctor. Yes, God called the doctor. He was God’s man for the hour, but Jesus had His hand on every step of my healing. (and sickness)
And I can tell you, and you know it yourself, that you can take all the medicine in the world, but you can still die. You can go to the best hospitals in the West, and you can die there just as quickly as you can die out here in the African bush.
Excerpts taken from PFTCOD 2
Jesus speaking: My precious children everywhere are facing tests of yieldedness (PDF), growth and change. The years ahead look daunting! They’re at the base of the mountain looking up and wondering if they’ll be able to endure the climb. I say, yes! Yes, each one who commits to climbing can and will overcome, because I will help them!
There will be difficult times. There will be times of struggle. There will be times to fight, and there will be times for them to come aside from the battle and let Me hold and strengthen them. Above all, they will need to proceed with the willingness and commitment in their hearts to Me that they will yield at each turn, each step, each place I ask them. That is the commitment I ask of them–that they be willing to hold on, to fight, and to yield–and this is not easy.
To each of the children of David, My avant-garde soldiers, I say, I love you! I highly honor you for making it through the boot camp training (PDF), and you’re privileged above all on the Earth to proceed to the leadership training course. That’s what I’m preparing you for. It’s not for yourself, to be a better person, to be happier in yourself only, but it’s for the sake of many, many others.
The days are coming when each of you will be invaluable to My plan, invaluable in bringing many to Me, and instructing many. So I honor you with the training you need now to prepare adequately for that day. Don’t be dismayed as you look up the mountain and it looms large–feeling that you must have failed somewhere, to have fought all these days and now be faced with such a test! It’s a promotion! It’s preparation for your high calling which I’ve planned for you, and I ask that you scale it with Me!
The victory is there for each of you, My precious ones. I didn’t bring you this far only to have you fall by the wayside in the times of difficulty. No, I have brought you this far to bring you through victorious! I love you, My precious children! (End of message from Jesus.)
