Putting It Into Jesus’ Words
“The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.” – Proverbs 16:23

“Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.” – Mat. 13:52 Constantly bringing new things out of the treasure of our hearts is paramount to our spiritual well-being. Anyone that has ever dug a well, or is using one, knows that for a well to do well,[ 🙂 ] you have to regularly bring out water. If you stop drawing water, the sediments of rock and sand will ultimately choke that well. On the other hand, the more you draw water out of the well, the fresher and cleaner the water gets.
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” – John 7:37-39
Such a beautiful picture, likening the Holy Ghost to rivers of living water, flowing out of our bellies. Four of the seven Spirits of God are also likened to water:
“The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.” – Proverbs 18:4
“Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it:” – Proverbs 16:22
“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.” – Proverbs 14:27
“Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.” – Proverbs 20:5
…and I would add: and will keep on drawing it out!
