To Bind and to Loose
“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 16:19
The other day I got stung by two wasps and this morning when praying about and for it I got an interesting thought: instead of just claiming the key of healing, I should claim the key of binding the spread of the venom and the key of loosing the heavenly balm of healing. I never thought before of using the keys in tandem, complementing each other thus creating a full circle of completeness.
Praying more about it, actually it was more of a combination of rejoicing and praising the LORD for this new jewel that I knew for certain that came through one or more of His seven Spirits, I was reminded of the principle of synergy: “How should one chase a thousand, and two put then thousand to flight…” Deut. 32:30a
“And five of you shall chase and hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight…” Lev. 26:8
*from the two verses above we can calculate the Biblical synergy ratio as being 1 to 5. In the first verse: one alone chases 1.000, but two 10.000,(10.000/2 people= 5.000 so being together they each chase 5.000, five times more than alone). The second verse: 100/5=20; being five, one chases 20; 10.000/100=100; being 100, one chases 100, 100=20×5, five times more than when they were alone, so again the 1 to 5 ratio. 🙂
I was also reminded of Matthew 12:29 “How can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.” It’s the age-old principle of first binding, removing and destroying the evil and only afterwards build, plant, renew the good. “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:10 It’s also interesting to observe the reference of the one and only verse in the Bible about the keys of the kingdom of heaven: Matthew 16:19. Six and nine are the only numbers that are identical in form, one being turned (as in turning a key) upside down compared to the other. Old keys, with their circle and tongue attached to the circle, even look like a six or a nine, and by turning them, you would either close (bind) the door or you would open (loose) it.
Happy binding and loosing! 🙂

Note from editor. Although there is only one verse in the Bible that specifically says “Keys to the Kingdom” if you look carefully you will see other verses that mention the word Key. We believe that there are thousands if not an eternity of Keys available to those that believe. For example, one very famous Key that is known of by millions of believers is the Key of David. There is so much we can learn about the Keys. This link will take you to a series of blogs that will help you understand even more about the Keys and their vital importance in this Endtime.
